Radiographs or X-Rays are of great value in our dental office. Many times decay can be within the structure of a tooth and not evident visually on a routine clinical examination. Dental X-Rays are usually completed during a comprehensive examination and are used to diagnose specific dental problems. With advances in technology, dental x-rays are considered safe
when used under the direction of a licensed dental professional. When you call for your appointment let us know if you have had any dental x-rays recently. This will help us in determining exactly which x-rays we may need when you visit our office.
We are equipped with a state of the art 3D imaging CT scan, which will help greatly toward our surgical procedures, such as implants, root canals, and wisdom teeth extraction.
Deep cleaning or periodontal therapy may be employed for those patients with issues regarding the gum tissue surrounding their teeth. Usually, a more thorough dental cleaning may be necessary to adequately address the infection that may be within the gum tissue. Gum infection, left untreated, may lead to tooth loss and need for tooth or teeth replacement. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults.
Cancer is the leading cause of death. Oral cancer is cancer of the mouth and accounts for only about 2% of all cancers but can lead to death if left undiagnosed and untreated.
Oral cancer is usually predicated by long-term use of alcohol and/or tobacco use over an extended time. Typically a dentist is the professional that can examine the oral tissues for cancer. Our doctors would be happy to screen and examine your mouth for evidence of oral cancer.
