In-office teeth whitening
The first professional teeth whitening option is commonly referred to as "in-office" whitening. This procedure is performed in a dental office. An in-office whitening treatment may include the use of a whitening lamp or laser to enhance the effectiveness of the whitening gel by accelerating the peroxide.

During an office visit, your dental professional will apply the whitening gel and, depending on the system being used, will shine a light source directly onto the teeth. The entire office visit generally takes about 90 minutes with immediate results.

We offer the Zoom whitening system at our office.

Home teeth whitening
Tray bleaching is a type of professional whitening that uses custom-made trays and whitening gel only available through your dentist. The whitening gel is placed in custom-fitted trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. As the peroxide in the gel breaks down, hydroxyl radicals help whiten stained teeth. Unlike strips, this process whitens all your natural teeth and may contain ingredients intended to provide maximum comfort. At-home professional tray whitening generally takes 10-14 days, although you may notice results in as little as three to five days.

Tooth reshaping
Tooth reshaping involves rounding or removing slight amount of tooth structure for a better look. Through time, teeth may chip at the ends and may get a rough or uneven look. By taking the dental handpiece and rounding those areas, the teeth have a more even, rounded and youthful look.

Usually, dental anesthetic is not necessary and this technique is a very safe and effective way to improve your smile.

Lengthening typically would involve adding composite (tooth colored filling material) to the ends of teeth that may be short or uneven. Reshaping and lengthening are very simple ways to help improve a patients smile and esthetic value. We would happy to discuss and answer any questions you would have about these simple cosmetic techniques.

Bonding
"Bonding" is a cosmetic procedure used to improve the look of anterior teeth. Bonding may take many forms and is typically used to close spaces between teeth , and to improve the overall appearance of the teeth.

A tooth colored composite filling material is generally used to complete bonding procedures. This is many times considered an "additive" procedure whereby the enamel of your tooth is not removed but composite is added to give your teeth a better look. Therefore, bonding is a great way to achieve a nice smile without "cutting" or dramatically changing your tooth. Come in for a consultation to see if bonding will help you achieve the smile you always wanted.

Veneers
Veneers are small custom made pieces of porcelain that are "glued" to the front surface of your teeth. Veneers are usually placed on all of your upper front teeth that show when you smile. Sometimes no preparation or cutting of your teeth is required.

If your natural teeth are severely uneven or out of alignment, preparation of your teeth will be necessary to achieve a great smile. Veneers require more time and materials and therefore your cost for these will be more than that of bonding, reshaping and whitening. Veneers are a more conservative approach than crowns.
